Class I Prospectus

PRIORITIES FOR ADMISSION

Admissions are open to all categories of applicants including non-central government employees.

      1.  Children of transferable central government employees including ex-servicemen.

      2.  Children of non-transferable central government employees including ex- servicemen.

3.  Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous bodies, Public Sector undertakings and institutions of Higher Learning of the Government of India.

4.  Children of transferable state government employees.

5.  Children of non-transferable state government employees.

6.  Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous bodies, Public Sector undertakings and institutions of Higher Learning of the State Government .

7.  Children from any other category.

 

Note:

1.  To be considered transferable an applicant should have had at least  one transfer during the last 7 years which involves change of station and movement with family to the new station.

2.  Applicants residing outside Nagpur cannot be placed in any category in Nagpur unless one of the parents resides in Nagpur.

    The movement of  Defence personnel to the place of final settlement on retirement will be  counted as a transfer.

RESERVATIONS

  15% for SC, 7.5% for ST in all fresh admissions and 3% horizontal reservation for Physically Handicapped. In the event of these quotas  remaining unfilled the seats will be dereserved.

     for sponsoring agency.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS 

       The following special provisions will be operative for admission on first come first serve basis  w.e.f.  academic session 2010-11 :

(A)  Following categories of children would be admitted :-

i.  The children and dependent grand children of Hon’ble Members of Parliament.

ii.  Grand children of serving and retired KVS employees.

iii.  Children of Central Government employees who die in harness. Children of   recipients of Paramveer Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Veer Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra & Shourya Chakra.

iv.    Children of recipients of President’s Police medal for gallantry & Police medal for gallantry, Children whose parent is a teacher, and is a recipient of National        Award for  teachers.

v.  Children who are recipients of National Bravery Award , or of Balshree Award        instituted by National Bal Bhawan. Meritorious sports children who have secured      I, II & III position in SGFI/CBSE/National/State level games organized by the          Government.

vi.   Recipients of Rashtrapati Puraskar in Scouts & Guides, Children who have shown        special talent in Fine Arts and have been recognized at the National or State  level.

vi. Provision for Single girl children:
                              
(a) Admission in class-I: After admitting the candidates up to the full intake capacity as per norms, if there are single female children left among the un-successful applicants, up to two single female children may be admitted in each section of class-I. For selection on this basis, inter se priority among such single female children shall be as per the categorization of the Admission Guidelines.
 
(b) Admission in classes VI onwards : Single female children of employees coming under categories I to VI who do not qualify for admission based on their rank in the admission test / qualifying examination but who obtain the minimum qualifying marks, may be admitted up to a maximum of two girls per class. In the event of there being more than two such applicants for a class, selection will be based on
      (i) inter se priority for different categories and
      (ii) relative rank in the admission test, with in the category.

 (B) 100 children of employees of the Ministry of HRD would be admi every year on orders issued by the KVS (HQ).

 (C) 60 admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas located anywhere in India and 15   children, in hostels in Kendriya Vidyalayas , of employees of the Ministry of      External Affairs would be admitted each year on orders issued by KVS (HQ).

 
(D) 15 children of the employees of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) would be    admitted on orders to be issued by the KVS Hqrs.  Of these, a maximum of 5 seats  would be given in Delhi and the remaining would be outside Delhi.
 
(E) Chairman , Vidyalaya Management Committee can recommend maximum two  admissions in the concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya.These two admissions may be recommended in one class or all classes put together except classes X & XII.
 
(F) Each Member of Parliament can recommend two cases for admission in the format prescribed in Kendriya Vidyalaya (s) located within the parliamentary constituency of the concerned Lok Sabha MP for the eligible children belonging to the constituency. Rajya Sabha MP can recommend admission in any KV located within the State from which he/she stands elected. The parents of the children who are being recommended should belong to the constituency either by domicile or on account of being posted there or may have migrated to the constituency on account of exigencies of service. The recommendation can be made for all classes except pre-primary, X & XII.

These admissions would be made in the beginning of academic year and  no admission would be made after the prescribed cut off date i.e. 31st July.

ADMISSIONS WITH KVTC

   If the parent has been transferred from one station to another station and his ward has been a  KV student, the admission may be allowed over and above the ceiling prescribed for  admission in class / section, only if there is no other KV located within the range of 05 kms.

Students coming with TC from other Kendriya Vidyalayas will produce the following:

1.      Transfer Certificate

2.      Transfer Order of the parent

3.      Progress Report Card of the last examination/unit test

4.      Two stamped envelopes for TC verification.

ADMISSIONS OF WARDS OF ARMED FORCES

Automatic admission of children in the Kendriya Vidyalayas on the basis of transfer certificate issued by the CBSE affiliated schools run by Armed Forces (e.g Army, Air Force, Navy) will be entertained only if the class strength is less than  40 (35 in case of Class I) and the parent has been transferred to that place or has desired to settle at the place after his retirement.

It is clarified that above provisions are only for the wards of Defence personnel viz. sons & daughters only. This will not include the grand children of Defence personnel.

AGE LIMITS FOR ADMISSION

             Eligible age for admission              

A child must be 5 years old on 31st March in the academic year in which admission is being sought for admission to class I and for admission to class II the age must be 6 years.  For remaining classes, the eligible age will be calculated as on 30th September of the Academic year. From 2010-11, qualifying age i.e. 31st March will be applicable up to class III and so on progressively, year after year.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED FOR REGISTRATION

 1.  The registration form duly filled with recent photograph, certified and forwarded by the head of the unit/office not below of  the rank of Colonel (for Army).

 

 2.  The Result Card and transfer certificate from the school last attended counter signed by the    DEO for classes II-IX . (If the transfer certificate has not been taken, a bona fide certificate issued by the school showing the class and date of birth should be attached.

 

3.  Xerox of Birth Certificate issued by the competent authority. (The original should be produced at the Vidyalaya at the time of admission for tallying the Xerox copy).

 

4. *Caste Certificate in the name of the student from the competent authority. (The Parents Caste Certificate may be submitted initially).

 

5. *Disability certificate from the Civil Surgeon.

6.  Proof of Residence of Father / Mother if the applicant is not employed.

7.  The application is to be signed / submitted by either parent and not by any local guardian.

     Note:

1. Incomplete applications / applications without all the required enclosures / applications not forwarded by the appropriate authority will be rejected and no further inclusion / correspondence will be entertained.

2. Mere registration does not confer any entitlement to admission.

3. Admission secured on submission of wrong information will be cancelled.

4. The Transfer Certificates issued within one session of admission will not be automatically valid for admission to any other Kendriya Vidyalaya.

5. Local transfers will not be granted without completing one session.

 

REGISTRATION
i.i.   Registration shall not be done if there is no vacancy or likelihood of any vacancy in a particular class. In case a vacancy arises in future, registration can be made after giving wide publicity at local level and admission can be granted as per KVS Admission Guidelines.
 
ii.   Registration for class XI shall be taken up immediately after the declaration of results of class X and admissions up to the full strength of the class should be completed within 27 days.
 
iii.  Registration forms shall be made available by the Principal on payment of    Rs.100/- along with school prospectus.
 
iv.  Mere registration will not confer a right to admission.
    
v.   Incomplete application forms shall normally be rejected. In case vacancies remain, the Principal may allow completion of the form later at his/ her discretion.
 
vi.  Admission secured on the basis of any wrong certificate shall be cancelled by the Principal forthwith and no appeal against such action of the Principal shall be entertained.

 

ADMISSION TO CLASS XI 

Preference for admissions to Class XI will be given to the applicants in the following manner subject to their fulfilling the eligibility conditions:

(Subject to change as and when notified by KVS) 

1.  Science Stream with Mathematics - 55% in the aggregate, 60% in Science and Mathematics taken together, 55% in Science and 55% in Mathematics.

2.  Science Stream without Mathematics - 55% in the aggregate, 60% in Science.

3.  Commerce Stream - 50% in the aggregate.

 ADMISSION TO CLASSES X & XII 

No admission will normally be allowed in Classes X and XII. However the Assistant Commissioner may consider the case subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions: 

1.    Vacancies are available.

2.    The parent has been transferred during the current session.

3.    The child has been in the same course of studies in a CBSE affiliated school.

4.   The child has obtained not less than 50% marks in the Class IX / Class XI       examination.

5.   The child would have been eligible for admission as per KVS admission guidelines.

6.   The combination of subjects is available in the Vidyalaya.

Vacancies caused due to transfers shall not be filled up except  KV to KV transfers due to actual transfer of parent.

No Tuition fee is charged from Girl students, SC/ST and children of KVS employees.

The fees are payable in 4 instalments in April, July, October and January before the 10th of the month. Each days delay beyond the due date invites a fine of Rs. 5/ per day for the VVN and Tuition Fee segments separately. The candidate’s name is struck off on the 10th day of delay and will be readmitted on payment of Rs. 50/- as fine and Readmission Fee of Rs. 100/-

 HOLIDAYS AND VACATIONS 

v The Vidyalaya works for a minimum of 224 days in a year, observing 10 days of Winter Break and Autumn Break and 50 days of Summer Vacation. (Please see the Vidyalaya notice board for the list of Holidays)

v Second Saturdays are holidays.

v  The classes are suspended in the afternoon on the last working day of each month.

v  The Vidyalaya Office is open during Breaks and Vacations.

 The Vidyalaya functions from 8:00 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. with a Lunch Break

from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

 
METHOD OF ADMISSION

 CLASS I - No admission test will be conducted for admission to class I. All applications received would be divided into 7 categories in the order of priority. Short listing for admissions would be done on the basis of number of transfers of the parents during the last seven years. Cases within Category  I and IV with equal number of transfers will be decided on the basis of age. There will be no draw of lots.

CLASS II AND ABOVE EXCEPT CLASS XI - For admission to these classes, an admission test would be conducted and a merit list prepared for each category of priority separately. Admission would be given in order of merit going by the sequence of categories.

CLASS XI ADMISSIONS - Fresh admissions would be made after accommodating the eligible students of same KV and there after other KVs. Fresh admission for remaining vacancies would be made in the order of merit in the sequence of categories of priority on the basis of the Board results of class X. There would be no admission of class XI over and above the class strength.

 PROVISIONS FOR GIRL CHILDREN: 

Admission in Class I : Two single female children may be admitted over and above the sanctioned intake in each section of Class-I. 

Admission in Class VI onwards : Two girls per class, over and above the sanctioned strength belonging to Category I to VI.

 MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT: 

Each Member of Parliament can refer two cases for admission under the scheme in an academic year in any KV in the country for all the classes except class X and XII. The recommendations should be sent to the Commissioner, KVS, in the prescribed form.
